Dan Shanahan is back to read, between chants, selections from Lotus Seed Poems, his audio book that reflects on life after meeting a Siddha (perfected) Master. He is a founder of Stone Soup Poetry in Cambridge, and founder of Drumlin, an ensemble that offers poetry, meditation and writing retreats. Also, he teaches poetry at two area colleges. They will lead the first hour and then Dave Russell for the other hour. Kirtan begins promptly at 5;30 pm. Park at the far righthand area of the beach parking. Bathrooms are open until 6:00. Free parking after 5:00 pm. Bring water and a cushion. Come early, swim first, sing later? This is an amazing beach, and you can walk for miles at low tide. Also, there is a concession stand that has edible food! This event is free. Slight rain shower possibility for beach kirtan? The kirtan is rain or shine. June 18 & 19: 2011 BOSTON YOGA & CHANT FEST! : Join Wah!, Dave Russell, Sean Johnson, Shyam Das, Prajna and others for two days of ecstatic chanting, yoga classes, dance performances, lectures, sacred ceremonies, massage, vegetarian food, and many booths of of yoga and holistic exhibitors, vendors, and more. Our wonderful guest poet Dan Shanahan who graces our klrtans each season will be here at our kirtan reading his exquisite Bhakti poems between our chants. AUGUST 18 - 21: 2011 LIBERATE MUSIC & YOGA FESTIVAL, SHELDON, VT: I will be leading the kirtan concert portion of this 4th annual festival that is expected to bring 1300+ people! We will be playing on Friday, Aug. 19 at 4:15 pm. I'll be joined by Charlie Braun, Holly Hartmann, and Derik Newton. Liberate brings together groups of people that would not commonly do so otherwise and welcomes people to 'liberate' themselves from things that aren't needed and don't serve the greater purpose of love. We welcome back Joa Agnello and Julian Traista for the second half of kirtan where we will soak up their sublime voices and crystal singing bowls. Joa is a sound therapist and leads sound therapy circles in Western Mass and Connecticut together with her husband Julian who is a sound-space maker, an instrument maker and a musician.
